0 311Hemi
I have an 03 reg cab, 4x4, with as you can tell by my name the Hemi.Great truck, fun to drive, wish I had the quad cab though. The extra space would be nice. I dont' have any complaints about it. Now, along with the fun come a downfall....I get around 12.5 mpg...although I am running 35" tires. But I can push the truck pretty hard and the mpg does not change much. If you drive the speed limit 55-65 or what not, you can get better mileage. I am usually around 75 on the freeway...soeither way I would recommend it. Go test drive one to see what you think. If you can afford the desiel, I would do that... My next truck with be a 3/4 ton 4x4 dodge quad cab with the desiel.
0 Gissert
I agree with 311Hemi -If you can afford the diesel, go for it.I have a 2001.5 quad cab/long bed with the HO engine and six speed manual. If my right foot minds it manners, I get 19.0 to 20.5 consistently with summer blend fuel. It will pull just about anything you can hook up to. No spark plugs, no plug wires, very simple to maintain. Resale is much much better than a gas engine.
0 Ben Trod
I have an 04 1500 Quad with a Hemi. I absolutely love it! I get 18-19 mpg on the highway. It has outstanding towing capability with my boat in tow. Passing is easy in a short distance. Great truck! I wouldn't own anything else.
0 minneman
Im also a happy hemi owner, an 03 2500 QC, am aproaching 27000 mi with it and only a few minor glitches that warenty covered. mileage... it is how you drive it, Ive found that anything over 70 mph it drops to 12-13. but if you stay at 60-65 and dont pass cars and do slow take offs (all hard to do w/hemi)you can see 17-19 mpg. for me its been the most fun to drive vehicle ive owned. 0 311Hemi
LOL....18-19 mpg vs my 12.5 mpg....I guess I can see why I have such low mpg. It's too fun to drive slow and my right foot does not mind!!!!Superships just released their Hemi priogrammer for anyone interesed!! I just need the $350 to be able to buy one. 0 cashcrews
I own an '03 1500 Quad. My experience is 18mpg or so when on the highway, 13-15mpg in town. When I tow my boat around NE Minnesota, I'll get about 14 on average. I don't drive all that fast, maybe 65-70 on average on the highway. The power and acceleration is quite a bit of fun sometimes. You never have to worry about passing someone with your boat in tow. You just GO!!!They say the Hemi has 100hp more than the old 5.9L and has 10% better mileage. That seems to be my experience too.Cashcrews
