For a fuse size on the locator go as small as possible... I believe they typically come with a 1 amp fuse.. which is just fine. The higher the amp rating the higher the likelihood that you'll damage the electronics before the fuse pops.

To wire your running lights I'd remove the front and rear gunwale caps and route the wires through them... a quick and easy way to route the wires and makes it all look nice.

Make sure you use at the very least, a inline fuse in between your power supply and your power panel / components.. the best way is to run a higher gauge wire (12) to the power panel and connect it to a fuse panel so you can select the appropriate size fuse for each accessory.

See this picture:

I borrowed the picture from Buford T's for sale post...

Anyway, remove those two covers and route your two wires to the front light through the gunwale cover channel... you'll likely mount the stern light on the back right cover as well, so all you're wires will be entering the same spot, making for a clean install.

Castingdad,

Why would you want to run only the rear light? If you are on the water at night, safety would dictate that you have both bow and stern lights on! confused.gif

To install a switch, run the hot wire (+) from the battery to your fuse, then from the fuse to one side of the switch, then from the other side of the switch to the lights.

Good Fishing!
