FlyingV
Anybody here ever change a water pump on a Mercury outboard? I have a 1994 115HP that has the original pump in it and I want to put a new one in. I have changed them on small older Johnsons but not a Mercury. Any advise is welcome.Thanks. 0 ChuckN
My guess it will be easier than the OMC's. At least that's what I experienced...the shift linkage can be a fun on the smaller Johnson/Evinrude, where my big Merc did not have a shift link...it was a shaft that just fit into place when you put the lower unit back into place. I don't know about your 115, but guessing it is not bad if you have done this before. My first time tackling this job was on my Merc and I moved to smaller motors. The only concern with my Merc was making sure the water pick-up tube slid into place properly. It's a small rubber tube that has to go on perfect and tough to see.Good luck.
