Sportshow thoughts

Well, I had the oppertunity to work all the days of the sportshow except sunday. So, I had a bit of a chance to walk around and see the sights. This year seemed much like years past, yet I wasn't disapointed. Some new products, some old products, some products that look like a gimmick, some that look lagit! Just a few of my thoughts from the sportshow this year.

Gamma Line- If you were at the show, you may have seen this booth. Its a new mono line that just hit the market. I am very impressed with its knot strength, and will have Gamma rigged on a few of my rods at seasons start.

Stren Abrasion line- Stren came out with a new mono this year as well, it is touted as the top abrasion line. The test they did was to hang a 2 lb weight from the line then turn the handle of a grinding wheel. I have to admit, this line outperformed all other lines in the test by a long shot. Maybe a good application for a flipping rod?

Rope-A-Boat, this was a system that you hooked up to your trailer to help in loading and unloading. I have to admit, it I had a roller trialer this would have been my big purchase of the year. The system is just plain slick! I dont see how it would help a bunk trailer much, but I wish more people had rope-a-boat on thier trailers come opener as it would keep the line moving much better at the boat landings.

Turboset-this product was an attachment for rod that hooked on to your handle of your rod. From there it cradled your forearm. To me it seemed a bit bulky, but I can deffinatly see how it could help people. Expeciallyif you normally run the moter(tiller) with one hand and hold the rod with the other. I can also see how it would help someone who may have a bit of a disability or just needed help with hook sets.

Northland Tackle-came out with a new line of plastics called slurpies. I have to admit, being a Mr.Twister staffer that some of the colors they came out with were pretty darn awesome.

State Record Bass- the mount of the state record bass was in the Frankies booth. I have to admit it was huge, but I think the mount did not do it justice. To me it looked like a bass that barely went 7 lbs, I saw picutres of this fish and the belly of the bass in the mount did not do it for me.

So, there are my thoughts... please add what you saw and liked and didn't like. However, keep in mind forum policy and not flame any companies.

Ikeslayer and I were up there friday evening drooling over the ranger boats tongue.gif It was nice to see all the new stuff and watch em throw baits in the big fish tank.. I always enjoy watching the combat fishing at the trout pond.. saw a few kids adding some meat out of there pockets to there hooks.. and they caught fish right away after that.. grin.gif

I was a little bummed.. it seemed like it was just one big outfitter advertisment. after halfway through, we just cruised the fishing vendors and skipped over a lot of the rest of the show..

It was a good time to see new products and stuff..

We were there on Saturday and my buddy walked up to a Stratos 375 XF and bought it in the first 15 minutes we were there. So that kind of "tainted" the rest of the show because of the excitement over the new boat. I didn't think there was nearly as many new products there and as much of a variety of stands as previous years. I bought a RAM mount and a few plastics. It was a fun time like it is every year.

LOL. Wayne, you need to quit picking on Deitz grin.gif

I thought the sport show was a lot of fun. A lot of things Deitz mentioned above where on my plate as well, and I couldn't agree more with some of the products that he mentioned...
