KVD Disqualified for Santee-Cooper Tourney

Sounds like his co-angler was running the motor while he was up on the front deck sighting out a spot in practice fishing. Rules are that the angler must be the one driving, as this is giving him an advantage oversomeone that does not have a co-angler in the boat with them.

Sounds a bit picky to me, but I guess the rules are in place for a reason.

Here's the full story.....

he is still all Class in my opinion.. he states "I have no one to blame but myself" .. even though he had boat problems.. very class guy!!!! Also note that he didn't try to bend any rules or push rules, he just didn't read them clearly! As far as I know he didn't even fight the disqual.

100% class act! He is a great representation of what a Sportsman is all about.

In this is a lesson that all of us can learn: read the rules and know all specific regulations for the state, providence, and lake that you are angling on. Also, make sure you are in compliance with all border regulations. It can save a trip and save a lot of $$$.

For those of you that fish tourneys, same applies, avoid a mistake like this and know the rules.

OK, I'll step away from the podium now and stop my lecture! grin.gif

Why is he such a class act? He was caught CHEATING, whats more damaging to the sport, a stuck up snob that follows rules or someone caught cheating? I like KVD dont get me wrong but he did something that he is not supposed to do period. friendly

Damaging to the sport...how can that be damaging....he admitted that he didn't know of this rule..but when he was questioned about it he owned up to it, that is what i respect!!!....When dealing with the payouts that these guys fish for and still these anglers turn themselves in for rules infractions, or own up to any rules that they violated, now that takes a lot of character to do. I think that it shows a deep respect by these anglers to the the integrety of the sport and organization that they are a part of. This is their livelihood, if they get caught cheating they are done!

just my 2 cents
