Bait Casting Reels...HELP!!

Ok, Im gonna fess up and say that I have very limited knowledge of bait casting reels. All I can remember is that Dad's old Diawa Millionaire was a **** nice reel in its time but also remember the backlash bird-nest nightmares that went with it. Mind you, that was 25 yrs ago.

With that said, Im gonna buy one anyway...lol.

Looking for some advice on a decent reel, maybe under $100, that will adjust easily and would give me minimal headaches. Mostly using it for casting crankbaits and topwater junk. I saw Cabela's has a very nice Tournament ZX for about $80.

go with a shimano curado, it runs for $120 well worth the extra $20. This is a proven reel. best for the money hands down.

I just picked one up for Muskies, Im getting use to it, I think the worse part is the reeling action is strange to me vs years of using the pinning reel. I also burned the heck out of my thumb a few times

we've had this discusion before so you may want to look back too. i would suggest you start by looking at all of the reels in your price range.talk to the sales people and the info here. there are many good reels in your price range. my two main baitcasters are diawa, but they are the higher priced ones.( if you do a lot of fishing it is worth the extra money) one reel i have been impressed with is the phlugger trion; but there are many more. do some looking. del

The Curado is awesome, I have 3 of them!
Depends what you like, the smaller profile or round profile.

I love my Garcia C5 Mag which I use for Muskies. It is on sale now @ Cabelas for $79.99. The best reel Garcia has made and is being replaced with a D5 series....

Abu C5 is nice. I like mine. But I love my Pinnacle Limited Edition Sonara. I received it as a gift but I assume it was around $100.
