Great Ice Fishing NW of St Cloud

There is minimal snow and they have been making ice in the Alexandria to Detroit Lakes to St Cloud triangle.

Reports are that the ice fishing has been good and the Park Rapids area has been producing as well.

Hope you guys have fun up there and maybe those of you who love ice fishing can make a quick trip to that area and get in on some great Late Ice fishing.

You bet! The four year old and I are going to go chase some perch on Saturday in the Ottertail area.

I've never been to that area but would like to go. Would you care to recommend a relatively user friendly lake and bait shop? Thank you.

There are a lot of little lakes in the area that are good for panfish (bluegills and crappie). However some of the bigger lakes get more press and do have bait shops near them that you can get information on where to go, what to use, etc. from them.

One particular lake I might be headed to this weekend is Clearwater Lake. This lake has some decent panfish and some nice size crappies when you find them. I'd stop into BJ's Bait on the shores of the lake to pick up some maggies and get an idea of where the bite is.
