squeedunk
Does anyone have any experience with these underwater cameras? It seems like they are comperable to the Aqua Vu Scout series. I am interested in getting a camera but can't drop $500 on one. Is the Aqua Vu a better choice or does Cabelas make a decent product? I am also wondering if Cabelas has a booth at the Minneapolis sportsman show? Thanks for any advice~Squeedunk
riverrat56
I've got one, its the exact camara as the Marcum 350 (not sure if thats the number) It's a good unit for the money, the larger screen a softpack are nicer than the scout IMO. A few places that need inprovment is the cable reel, it could be bigger, also having used it side by side with a scout, the scout gets a little better picture quality, but it is really a small differnce. Also as with all cameras, you will need to devise a system to hold it while, while ice fishing I use a rock (really gets some odd looks from people) open water I have not tried mine yet.btw-I picked mine up for 130 bucks in the Cabelas bargin cave, it was missing a battery charger, got a new charger for 6 bucks, look around you may be able to find a deal. riverrat56
another nice feature I forgot is being able to tilt the camera and having the optional down veiw, each has its time and place and I like having the option, not avalible on the scout as far as I know. SUICK
it is the same as the marcom 350 pretty decent camera for the money had my 1st one fill up with water but they exchanged it for a new one right away like the soft pak and also being able to dim it the scout does not have this feature all in all pretty happy with it so far
picksbigwagon
I bought mine at the bargain cave too, the first time out I loved it. I have fished with the aqua vu's before and I loved the bigger screen....the second time out it didn't work....the camera was all goofed up, etc...when I returned it to cabelas, they tried to tell me I couldn't return it becuase I bought it in the bargain cave...I stood there for 10 minutes waiting for the manager to take the return back. DON'T BUY it from the bargain cave, spend the extra money and get it in the store so you don't get hassled when you return an obviously flawed piece of equipment....and to settle the next few posts ripping me, the tag said it was an unused return. When I open the box, nothing was unpacked, it was all packed wrapped and taped from the factory....I am not sure what I am going to replace it with. either another 350, or a scout xl, I am sold on the 7" screen though, that was nice....or I am gonna get a new shotgun for next fall....good thing my wife never checks this HSOforum
Dave
squeedunk, I've used the Marcum 350 (Marcum manufactures the Cabelas 350)this season and the unit has worked well. Here's a thread I posted that may give you some additional info. Marcum 350 - Close Up Look
