Pike lures

Recommended Posts

The best like lure I have EVER used is the Terminator Spinnerbait in Chartruse with Gold and Silver Double blades. The black and Gold Husky jerk has also had amazing moments for me in Canada on the properly stained lake

eyemaster-

My Black Ant only has one marking on it on the loop for the line that says "luxor" or something like that, it's kind of hard to read. The bait is about 3 1/2 inches long with three varying sized secions. It's black with white stripes on the "torso" section, orange eyes, a flat spoon-shaped bill and a small colorado spinner off of the "tail". It's made of metal and has a rattle in it. My Dad had one when I was a wee lad and we used to catch tons of fish at the landing near the cemetary in Brainerd with it. My brother lost it on a snag and I found another one at a garage sale a couple years ago. I landed about 15 northerns on it alone last year. Granted most were 20 inchers, but it works. I want to find one in a larger size, say 8 to 10 inches, and try it for bigger pike and muskies. I think this is the only size made though, and possibly the only color.

In the past I had always done best on spinnerbaits and bucktails, but this past summer we caught almost all our biggest pike trolling long stick baits such as ripsticks, fasttracks and bomber long-a. Another crank I got to try out last year that i think will be hot is the new rapala jointed x rap.

I'm pretty certain that your Ant is a Hellbender made by Whopper Stopper of Sherman, TX If you ever need to replace it, go to hsolist and search for "hellbender". You'll find plenty.

Clearly my brother has taken the title of "Cliff Claven" for this board!

Fished a whole week in Canada with the 1 oz chartruce dare devil, nothing else! Always do well with the Johnson silver minnow too. Buried one in Dad's chin once, but that's a whole 'nother story!
