Humminbird Questions and issues

dwag70

Question

So I bought a 535PT fish finder last fall got it out on the water a couple of times last year but had the same problem over and over .. It would lose the bottom and then blink random numbers and show nothing on the screen. I have made sure the battiers are fresh (this is a portable unit powered by two lantern batteries) The transducer is level and I have tried it both submerged and right at the water line. There are no nicks or kinks in the cable for the transducer. And I dont think it is caused by engine noise for it does the same thing weather or not you are moving or sitting still ... any one had simialar deal with humminbird ? how is there customer service ? could it be a bad transducer right from the get go ? Any help in making this thing usable would be great !!!

I have one of the Matrix units and had something similiar happen one day. After a few minutes I realized the transducer had popped-up on it's break-away hinge, snapped it back in and it has been fine since. That makes me think it's a transducer problem. I also used their transducer exchange to trade a transom for a trolling motor style. They were very helpful and sent out my new one within days and for only $5 shipping.
