Too late to ice fish?

I'd really recommend attending a Fishing Minnesota Get Together. I don't think there is a better way to learn about fishing. Yesterday, I attended the Cool Cats 2006 by Richmond (just west of St. Cloud). There is a Get Together at Lake of the Woods on March 11th.

At the Cool Cats The Chemist gave me the morning's hot lure for cat fish and drilled some extra holes. Dennis Steele loaned me his Marcum flasher. Deitz Dittrich gave me some tips on using the flasher. Papa Grump gave me tips on catching catfish on the Minnesota River. And, Keith told me the secret bait his wife used so successfully. I hadn't met any of these folks before yesterday. This is a really helpful group, and some of the fine points to fishing are difficult to learn just by reading.

At the Cool Cats there was a pot luck, a raffle where well over half of us won something, and even a porta potty. All this for free.

At the get togethers you learn by doing, and for me, that's the best way. If you can't make one this year, be sure to go next year. You could also check out the summer get togethers.

Also, don't forget the articles. They have some great tips.

Ice Fishing is still going for me.

Went out this morning and caught a number of 10" crappies on a Custom Jigs and Spins Ratso - NO LIVE BAIT.

JUST PLASTICS

Then caught a couple nicer ones on Custom's Jigging Demon tipped with a small minnow.

Here is a 11.5" Crappie caught this morning.

After tomorrow it will be ATV or snowmobile only travel for me.
