what's working best now?

Have been out a number of times, this being my first year, and doing so-so. After reading a number of posts, I'm coming to the conclusion that my jigs and bait are probably too big (jigs with entire crappie minnows) for timid crappies and gills. I'm getting the impression that much smaller jigs, tipped with small worms, grubs and plastics. Any other pointers as to what's been workin with the timid panfish? Thanks for all the information thus far!

I've had good luck on finiky gills using Little Atom - Optic Stealth jigs

Another great bait to try would be a Diamond Jig from Custom Jigs

Jigs of this nature and size have been my go-to (confidence) jigs all season long. A Marmooska is another I use a aweful lot of. I've also heard good things about the Wolfram Jigs.

As the ice season nears the end, its common for fish to start to feed heavier and become more agressive, given steady weather patterns. You'll find some days the larger fish will only bite larger style presentations. Good Luck

my "Go to" jig has been a genz fat boy size 12 all winter

I would agree with Tyler,My go to jig as of late has been a few jigs from Little Atoms Optic Stealth line for both crappies and sunfish.The crappies on the left were caught the other day on those jigs along with a mess of sunfish.GREAT jigs.

i havent posted on ice leaders before but my goto jig is a perch pattern horrizontle jig with 1-3 waxies on it i read that perch fry can be a "bulls" or a slabs dinner so thats my input
