Tom Wilson
Here's a couple of the incomings that I liked... Here's one that I am most proud of--this was taken handheld, just before dark tonight, at a shutter speed of 1/90th of a second at 630mm. I think it's got quite the artsy feel to it... Steve Foss
Tom, love that last one especially. Great bokeh on the tan water behind the birds. Looks like a painter brushed in that background. Might try a very narrow horizontal crop to get rid of the ice on top. Might also crop out the mergansers' reflections from the bottom so there's nothing but that beautfiul long stretch of tan and the two birds. Very nice as it is. Excellent technique to get it as sharp as it as at 1/90.
MN Shutterbug
Personally, I like the reflecion in that photo. It really adds something. But the ice at the top has to go. By the way, where are you finding waterfowl, especially mergansers, this time of year?
Steve Foss
Well, there you go, different strokes for different blokes.
riverrat56
I really like the top one, hunted all year and never got to see that, at least not with Mallards, only thing that would make it better is if the top drake had his wings fully cupped, but still a great pic, the mergansors are sweet to.
