MN Archery Turkey - Over-the-counter tag

Recommended Posts

There's been some confusion this year about the archery tag law, new for 2004.

It's over the counter this year folks, no need to apply for a permit if using a bow.

If you forgot to apply for a tag, or were unsuccessful in drawing a lottery permit, you may purchase a tag over the counter for the last two seasons, (G & H), and hunt in any zone with greater than 50 permits per season/time period. You must specify which zone you'll be hunting in at the time of purchase.

From the DNR HSOforum:

Quote:

Legislation passed in 2004 created an archery spring turkey license for residents and nonresidents. In the spring of 2006 an archery spring turkey license can be purchased that is valid for the last two time periods only of any permit area with 50 or more permits per time period. Lottery applicants that are successful in the 2006 spring turkey lottery will not be eligible to purchase an archery spring turkey license.

Hope this gets a few more of you out there hunting, even if you forgot to apply or were unsuccessful.

This is just for clarification, in response to a question I had via email.

To purchase this archery over-ther-counter tag, you DID NOT have to apply for the general drawing. You can purchase this license OTC if you did not apply, OR if you were unsuccessful in the general drawing!
