Southern Minnesota Crappies - Why go to Upper Red?

We've been getting into some nice crappies in southern Minnesota.

They have been where the crowds are now to around the edges of the crowds to places most wouldn't think of fishing. We've caught them in 36", 17" 14", 6", & 26" of water. They are mostly feeding on red worms and daphnia (bugs).

However it seems minnows have been the bait of choice and don't be afraid to get some of the #8 and #6 Demons and Jigging Demons going with a whole crappie minnow, not the micros either. Our fat boys were the only other ice jig that produced big crappies in the past week.

They also are relating to the bottom for the most part.

We threw everything at em and those Custom Jigs and Spins Demons and Jigging Demons have been the ticket in our latest run of luck.
