ESPN is reporting that the Vikes have signed FB Joey Goodspeed.

Who the heck is this? I looked around and the only thing I could find is that Rams had him listed as a RB. Here's the only numbers I could find.

Height: 6-1 Weight: 247

Born: Feb 22, 1978 - Berwyn, IL

Here's what I found out about Goodspeed:

The Minnesota Vikings have signed free agent FB Joey Goodspeed to bolster their backfield. Goodspeed last played with the St. Louis Rams in 2004.

Goodspeed was drafted out of Notre Dame by the Pittsburg Steelers in 2000. He spent the next pre-season with the New Orleans Saints before playing for 12 games in 2002 with the San Diego Chargers.

Goodspeed played with the Rams in 2003 and 2004, and did not play in 2005. His career totals are 3 rushes for 6 yards and 1 touchdown.

Vikings add depth in the secondary

Last Update: 2/21/2006 9:35:08 PM

The Minnesota Vikings added another face to their secondary signing free agent Ronyell Whitaker from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Whitaker signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2003. He spent most of the two years on the practice squad but did manage to log a start in 2003.

Whitaker comes to a team where he is familiar with the Cover-2 scheme, and the coaches. Whitaker worked with new Vikings Defensive Coordinator Mike Tomlin, and Defensive Backs coach Joe Woods in Tampa Bay.

Whitaker played at Virginia Tech and is the nephew of Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker

Vikings sign former Giants OL Whittle

The Minnesota Vikings, who are expected to rebuild the interior of their offensive line for 2006, have signed free agent Jason Whittle, an eight-year veteran who has started in the past at both guard spots and also at center.

Released last Saturday by the New York Giants, after a second stint with the team, Whittle signed a one-year contract for $695,000, ESPN.com has confirmed. The deal includes a $25,000 signing bonus and a minimum base salary of $670,000.

Whittle, 30, could vie for a starting job on a unit that might undergo a overhaul in 2006. At worst, his versatility will provide Minnesota a top backup, one who can play three positions and can also serve as an emergency deep snapper. The 6-feet-4, 305-pound Whittle is known as an excellent technician but also as a physical in-line run-blocker.

This is a bit of good news

KoRo agrees to three-year deal

THE NEWS

Wide receiver Koren Robinson agreed to a three-year contract with the Vikings just before he would have hit the free agency market Friday night. Robinson, who was cut by the Seahawks after battling alcoholism, was a Pro Bowl kick returner with the Vikings last season.
