minnkota 795mx repair

about the middle of last season I had problems with my old minnkota powerdrive. It would only turn to the left for some reason. I was told that the gears are shot. I ended up putting my "spare" trolling motor on my boat for the remainder of the season. I would really like to get my other one fixed as my spare only has 28lbs of thrust and has a 36 in shaft. do you guys know of anybody with parts for these older motors that nows how to fix them?

The foot pedal for the 795 has been obolete for several years. Hook 12 volts directly to the steering motor to see if that is the problem. If it works, then the pedal is bad and you are out of luck.

no I no it isnt the foot pedal because I use the same foot pedal for both of my old minnkotas and it works with one of them.

Superhawk, I took my 765pd to fish electronics in Fridley and they told me it was the control board. I was also told to make sure it was unplugged while not in use, because it still drained the battery. This causes the board to wear out sooner. I han not had a problem since. Both times my motor would only turn to the left. Also was told to store inside to avoid moisture to freeze on board and crack. Just some advice from experience!
