aug495fish
I am going to get either a Lansky or a Gatco system for sharpening my knives. Anyone have any opinions about which is better? In addition to that, should I go with the diamond sharpeners or just the regular ones? Thanks in advance for your input.
0 Surface Tension
I've got the Lansky and it works fine for most steel but it won't sharpen my Rapala fillet knife. For that I bought a cheap set of diamond stones at Northern Tool and thats all I use now.
0 trapperdirk
All the critters I skin in a year I need razor sharp properly angled knife sharpening done and the Lanksy system in diamond does it for me . The diamond stones are pricier but if you will be sharpening often then its well worth it . TD
0 Lindy Lee
I have the Lansky system in the diamond stones. They are a little more $ but are much faster. I bought mine at Gander a few years back, they screwed up on the pricing so I bought for the same price as the standard stones $24.99. The only knife I have had problems with is my Leech Lake Fillet Knife, so I take that to the Sportsmans Show each year. If you do buy the Lansky buy the metal stand as an accessary it fits really nice into the case & makes sharpening much easier.
