Hey whats the deal with the update for the LX-3 ? is it worth the $$$ what exactly do they do to it ? Does it turn it into a LX-5 or what

No, it doesn't turn it into a LX5 or even an LX3 TCI. What it does do is give you three color signals, which are definitely easier to see and provides better definition. There is no more part red, maybe orange or is it yellow? The modification gives you distinct red, yellow and green. I had my LX3 converted, and once it was working, it worked very well last week on Devil's Lake and I am happy that I spent the money for the upgrade. Good seperation and more distinct identification when fish entered the transducer cone. Your decision, but I would do it if I were you.
