Minnkota Trolling Motor

I know 'tis is NOT the season....but I have a 65# bow mount Minnkota (it's got a white head with a red circle on the top where the arrow is), probably 2000, same year as my Larson boat (I'm guessing). Problem occured last summer..I went to turn left using the footpad, and I thought I heard something "snap" and since then I can't control it, it wants to continue turning. I wanna say that a cable snapped inside, but I know nothing about these. Anybody have a clue what went wrong? Further, if anyone has an idea or two of where I can take it to be fixed/reconditioned in the metro area, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like you may have popped a spring in the footpad. They are pretty easy to take apart and see what's up. Should just be a few screws on the botton of the controller.

A place for trolling motor repair is the motor clinic.Used to be in bloomington but they may have moved.Maybe someone here can say for sure or you can search online
