Need Prop Advise!!!

marknamy

Question

I have an 04 C-liner 1750 Sportfish with a 140 4stroke Zuki. Motor mounted in the 3rd hole (middle).

First Prop: 13 1/4 x 21 Hustler Aluminum, 44mph @ 6400-6600rpm WOT.
Second Prop: 13 1/4 x 23 Hustler Aluminum, 43mph @ 5400-5800rpm WOT.

Both props were run under similar conditions, full tank of gas 2 guys and full livewell.

The 21 came out of the hole nicely but I hit the rev limiter. Went with the 23 in anticipation that I could drop the rpm and gain a little speed. Not the case.

What I am looking for is advice on a good aluminum prop for this boat. Should I go with the 14 x 21 or 14 x 23 Suzuki prop or look for a different brand. Not real interested in SS since I spend all my time in the rocks of LOW.

One more question. For those runnig an 1850 Sportfish with the 140 Suzuki, how in the world are you getting 45-50mph out of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They are getting a few more mph by using a ss prop. Less flex = better performance = more mph. Not exactly the answer you were looking for, I know. Can't blame you for going with aluminum near the rocks, those SS props are spendy grin.gif

Have you tried the 23" in the second hole? That might raise the RPM's to give you better top end.

Thanks for the response. I think I'll try the 14 x 21 Suzuki prop. If not I'll have the 13 1/14 x 21 cupped.
Not looking to break any water speed records, just hate to have a great motor that is not performing to it's potential.
