Hey Willie I haven’t seen you on the site in awhile. I’ve got two of the Ready Rigs and I use them all the time. I’ve got 3 more ice rods that need some protection so I’m sure I’ll be ordering one. I can’t remember what the length is, but I got a shorter one from you awhile back, have those been discontinued?

How’s Buddy doing?

Hey Metrojoe, you're right, it has been a while as I have been extremely busy the past several months. Buddy is doing just fine and did a great job out in the fields finding roosters last year. Me, my son Luke and Buddy made our first South Dakota trip last year. We saw good numbers of birds and had the time of lives. We should try and get a group together at a local game farm soon for some exercise as both Buddy and I are getting just a bit out of shape.

The Ice Pro 34 was the one product I designed over ten years ago that really put ReadyRig on the map. I can remember spending many all nighters in my graphic design studio hand cutting each tube with a scroll saw and hand made jig. I would then insert the tubes into presewn shells and pack them up for delivery...what great memories. With all that being said I must admit that the time has come to retire this little 35" black ice rod case. ReadyRig's IPCCP is the Ice Pro 34 on steriods. It is longer, more colorful and has more features. The Triad is a great little soft sided case that will stay in production for some time to come.

I hope all FMer's looking for a great deal on a proven product will take advantage of this great deal. Hopefully all our efforts over the past years have saved many thousands of graphite ice rods from a early grave.

With the way the weather has been it might not be a bad idea. I know the pup would love to get out on some birds. She'll be a year next week. I haven't been up to see Rick this season, but I'd imagine his fields are pretty good this time of year. Anyways, just placed an order for one of each.

Metrojoe - Rick's doing great and has made improvements to the barn so it is more useful as a meeting area. We no longer have to huddle in the small office. The month of February is all booked for me but lets try and get something going in March. I would love to see how your pup is progressing. Buddy will be three years old next May and I miss watching the endless energy that pups have out in the field.

Willie, I ordered one of the auger cases, and it doesn't fit my Strikemaster. It's an older model with a big 3 hp. motor on it. Where can I send this to recieve a refund? I really think these are a great product, but it's about 4" too short. Thanks for any information.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
