airjer 1993 dodge caravan 3 litre water pump went out have estimates of 500.00 to 195.00 to replace? question is the water pump is connected to the timing chain or where and why the difference in price to repair castindad

Yes the water pump is timing belt driven. It involves removing almost everything on the right side of the engine, then removing the timing belt, then you can replace the pump. Usually the timing belt is also replaced along with the cam seals. $500 is a bargain. $195 the guys don't know what they are quoting.

$500 is a heck of a price for the waterpump/timing belt/cam seal replacement. The head gasket job cost me $1000

mkay dodge was around 200.00 for the pump extra for timing chain part? they are a dodge dealer! strange? castindad
