davidr
Well since the lakes arround the metro and north metro are getting sketchy to ride on does anyone have a favorite trail system they like to trailer up and go to. I have ridden the st croix trail on dirt bikes in the summer, just wondering how it is in the winter. I live in the twin cities but i am willing to trailer up and drive for an hour or 2. LMITOUT
Good question. If I bought an ATV tomorrow, I wouldn't even know where I could unload and ride and I live out in Hutchinson! Hence one of the reasons I haven't seriously considered buying one yet. When I was young and lived in ND I rode every day wherever I pleased. Hard to justify buying a $6000 item that gets it's most time on the lakes during the winter. I suppose you could equate it to a boat............. LMITOUT
No responses.....that pretty much sums up the riding areas around here.
Macgyver55
Problem is most of the designated ATV trails are closed from Dec. 15th until April 15th or 30th. There are a few open all year, but you can ride any of the forest roads in the state forests that are open.
knoppers
go to the DNR HSOforum, they have what trails are open and closed. they also have maps you can print out. just remeber, any trail that is groomed for snowmobiles, will be closed to ATV's for obvious reasons. but since the snow is pretty much gone for now, you probally could ride about anywhere.
