Guided SnoBear Trips

Recommended Posts

I'm sure a number of you have seen or heard about the SnoBear. I am now offering guided fishing trips out of the Bear. It is an amazing machine that is decked to the hilt with electronics and many other goodies. I have taken a number of trips with it already, but I would like to get the word out a little more about how unique the experience is. I had a group out from Texas last week that had so much fun, we sold them on the area for next summer as well. I will take groups of 3 for a half day trip, doing the morning "bite" and the evening "bite". Call or email to book this winter.

Walleyedan, aren't those machines pretty expensive for us average fisherman? Do you have connections with a dealer? I saw one of those up on LOW over Christmas break, the guy was a dealer rep and was trying it out. They would be fun to drive on a poker run around central minnesota. Would be nice and warm.

I can attest to the might of the SnoBear! Walleyedan took us on the maiden voyage on N Long just before X-mas. Not only is it a comfortable, warm, fish catching machine, it is a real head turner. Think of it as a portable permanent shack. When you are ready to move, it raises off the ice hydraulically and away you go to your next waypoint. Couldn't be easier. A great option for kids and any reluctant spouses as well.

Do yourself a favor and book a trip soon, as I am sure they will fill up fast.

Kooba,

Pretty spendy for your average fisherman, yes. But I'm not your average fisherman!! J/K!! For someone like me that is in the business it works out very well, think of it as my winter boat. I work with the people at Nisswa Marine, they are one of the only SnoBear dealers in the world. Great people to work with and great products.

Hi Crumpler,

Thanks for the testamonial. Are you still outfishing everyone? You are so right, it seems to be the perfect fit for Dad and Son/Daughter or Mom and Son/Daughter. I'm glad I posted, I just booked a trip not to long ago. I have been out with it quite a few times since our North Long trip and you should see how decked out it is now.

Thanks,

Walleyedan

I saw one of these on Mille Lacs this past weekend. Pretty cool! It makes me wonder how much maintainence could be involved and what would happen if one were to ever get stuck in deep slush.

Something I'll have to put on my list should I win the powerball!

Norsky,

You don't need any toys for the rest of your life once you have a SnoBear. It's been really nice this year with the marginal ice to have a machine like this that has its weight distributed so evenly. Bracket, loaded with what? Beer? Yes, it's suppose to float!! And Mark, can't wait to get you and your family out. Full moon, could be good!! S.S., Hello!!

Hi Ryan,

It would be perfect for the ladies that can't quite see why we get so into ice fishing. This will ease them into it and they might end up going on every trip, so make sure you're carefull. I sent you an email, but I'll let you know here as well. Half day rates are 375.00.

Hope it's a go,

Walleyedan

I wouldn't worry about anyone getting free advertising. Anyone can advertise, you pay for it one way or another. I think it would be a lot easier to pay for it with cash than be a moderator.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
