FL8 Flasher

I have an FL8 and the leds seem to be getting dull, do not seem as bright as they were, may be just my eyes. is that possible? and can they be replaced and where, how much?

I was told to make sure the lense you view them through is clean. Your ducer could be on its last leg too. Vexilar, in my opinion, has a really great customer service dept in Bloomington if you want to have them take a look at it. They just checked out mine and gave them a clean bill of health!

Most likely it is brush dust on the inside of the dial. I have cleaned mine a few times, and it has helped with this.

If you go to their web site you will find instructions on how to clean and service the FL-8. I did a complete clean on mine and it improved the brightness.

The instructions are very informative and helpful.

I went to the HSOforum and found the owners manual, but no instructions on how to clean it. Also can the LEDS be replaced? Really like this unit, wanna get as much out of it as possible.

I contacted Vexilar last year with the same question, the new flashers are so much brighter that the old I was hoping to upgrade my FL-8. The customer service guy told me I could upgrade by buying a new flasher. Not much help. I'll take a look at the HSOforum though and see if the cleaning instructions help.

My bet is the transducer. Try a buddy's ducer on your unit.

Speaking of FL8 flashers, we opened our x-mas gifts early because we are going out of town and I got a FL-8SE!!!! I'm pumped..... its time for me to start having some better luck out on the lake
