FL8 vs FL18

How much better is the 18 than the 8, I have a old 8 and am thinking of upgrading, and will the old transducers work with the 18 because I would use this on my boat and I have one mounted on the trolling motor. thanks. HTB

The old transducer should work.

I have an old 8, and an 18. I aways grab the 18, for the simple reason that the display is much brighter.

For the reason of being able to use the same transducers yes a 18 would be worth the upgrade. But realize that you aren't getting the best depth finder out there. You could get a LX 2 which has the pretty much the same technology as a FL18 for around $100 less depending on how you get them equiped. With that 100 you can easily pick up a new transducer. Something to kick around.
