Tyler Holm
I've heard 2 reports from the Refuge. 1 good and 1 tough. The first one was from about 2 weeks ago and 3 guys got 10 perch and 3 decent eyes. They had perch up to 12.75"The next report I've heard was 3 guys caught 3 walleyes all before 8am. Never got a fish after that. I don't know for positive what they were using, but knowing them the bare hook and crappie minnow is used frequently. Mike Walerak
When I am fishing Waubay I like to use the Angle Eye flutter spoon. These spoons are deadly on the and I prefer to use the Go Devil when I am walleye fishing. It seems I always have at least one or the other tied on a rod. Go Devils - CLICK HERE Another spoon that is right up there on my list is the Slammer from JR's Tackle.mw
ifishsd
Genz worm works the best for me. Minnow head or waxies. You will catch both walleyes and perch with the genz worm. Orange/yellow is my favorite color. I also like glow in the dark jigs after sunset.
Tyler Holm
My personal Waubay favorite for perch is a perch eye jig with a tiny crappie minnow hooked through the mouth. My favorite method of fishing perch on Waubay is hole hopping with a small jigging spoon with a single minnow head on. We usually drill about 30 holes. Grab your flasher and a rod and just hit each hole. Fish it for 2-3 minutes agressively until you mark a fish. If no fish in 2-3 minutes, just go to a new hole. One of the biggest keys I've found so far at Waubay is moving towards the fish. If you have a hot hole, or one side of your setup is doing better than the other, drill more holes in that direction and put more lines down in the area of the hot hole. sloughshark
My personal favorites are the forage minnow tipped with either a minnow head or tail and the halies jig tipped with a a grub, both have been deadly for me in the past.
