First time out with my LX-3

Went out on Saturday to use my LX-3 and I don't know how I fished this long without one. Seeing your bait fall and then watching a fish come up to it is awesome.

Can't wait to go to URL in a few weeks. Well worth the $$$$.

Robj:

Glad to see you had a good experience with it. I know i felt the same way after not having it for all those years. Sunday was my first time out with the new colors on those units, and I was very impressed. Will post pics soon.

I'll second that..fished LOW and hit Red on the way back down. Hate to have to break it to the wife...there's a new love of my life now! Still playing with the Zoom feature..haven't figured it out yet.

Eckie I can help you there. When you get set up and sounded the depth on your hole push the zoom button once for the 5' zoom and twice for the 10' zoom immediately go to your down arrow button and hold it down till you see two blinking yellow lights (that's your zoom window) hold the down arrow button down to where you want the leading yellow light to be. As you appoach the bottom you will start seeing the left hand side of your screen mimick what's on the right side but enhanced. It's pretty easy and you will love this feature especially if you like to hole hop flats the zoom stays locked in. Good luck...

I'll third that. Jigging replaced bobbering for me as the presentation of choice, with the LX-3tc lighting the way. I was fishing alone last night and when that space between bottom and jig started filling with green and then red and moved up to the jig line, I couldn't help but blurt out loud, "Here he comes up off the bottom!" and a second later, a fish would hit.

Just don't let my wife see your "Well worth the $$$$" comment. Maybe just tell her, "Well worth the $$$." smile.gif

Good description on the zoom operation Tim. For a quick reference, stick that manual in the pocket of your MarCum's soft pack. Get to know all the features of the MarCum and you'll be using your sounder at its full potential.

Right on schweady, your going to start experiencing what new things with that MarCum.

Thanks guys, great explanation Tim. Is it safe to assume that by using the Zoom feature, the size of the "window" between the bottom and my jig will increase, thus making it easier to see fish coming off the bottom? In regular mode, it was difficult to differentiate between the jig and a fish due to the small area.

I will put the manual in the soft pack..nice tip, Surface.

The best part for me was, on Red, where you couldn't keep walleyes anyway (and the crappies weren't biting), was "playing" with them before they hit...applying different presentations--jigging differently, etc., to see if I could get them off the bottom and go after my bait. Simply Awesome...Now I just need to send it in for the upgrade.

Eckie - Your right about the zoom function it will give you instantaneous critical information in that window about the mood of the fish and which nigues i.e. technigues you need to do to take that fish for a vertical ride. It's all right there in that window. You will love it!
