Hey Alex Walleye-

Some awesome deals out there on the Lowrance H20. Should be available in the $160 range.

Thats a heck of a deal for a GPS with full mapping and MMC chip compatability. Do yourself a favor and pick up the Lakemaster MN chip for the unit and you will be a very happy fisherman.

What does the lakemaster MN chip cost? The reason i ask is that my wife will be purchasing the GPS and I need to make sure i provide "specific" instructions...........

Check around on the internet for the H2o--I have found them for $128 and I ordered the color unit for $225 with shipping--but you need to do some searching! The lakemaster chip is going to run around $100 no matter were you get it. I will tell you that some of the stores that I checked were backordered for a long time so I just ordered mine through Lakemaster. When I ordered through them they threw in a paper map of my favorite lake--which is about $15 for free!! I am still waiting for my H2o c--but used my friends last night and it is awesome!!

Good luck!

I Just got my H20 from Thorne Bros and I love it! Accurate , cheap, tough/ waterproof and it floats!

I also like that I can take my Lake Master chips from my units on my boat, put one in the H20 and in two seconds I have all my lake maps in the palm of my hand.

So the H20 is great for fishing, how is it for other stuff, like hiking, ATVing, hunting, ect.? I want one for x-mas too but I hunt, fish, and ATV. Therefore, I woukld like one that can do it all. Any suggestions?

hanson (and others), as promised here's my report on the iFINDER H2O color unit. Used the unit this past week hunting quail in Arizona's high desert country. As I've stated before, the ability to change the color of your tracks is a great feature of the units. The backlight was great as was the battery life. I had Lowrance's Topo chip for AZ and NM. Accuracy varied between 17-33 feet. A note for foot hunters, hikers, etal: you have to be moving in order to get an accurate compass readout. If you're into a lot of foot activity I would perhaps look at the iFINDER HUNTc. It has a dynamic compass, i.e.; you don't have to be moving to get your bearing. Good luck and good fishing. Oh, by the way, the quail hunting was great on the San Carlos Indian Reservation!

If you are a hunter the Lowrance iFinder Hunt model is also a good coice. Most of the features are the same as the H20. I believe the H20 floats but the Hunt model have waypoint symbols geared for hunting and has the ability to show state land. (The H20 may have this feature too...I am not intimately familar with that model) I have the Hnt model as it has performed flawlewssly in the field or on the lake. I bought it for $218 on the internet. The color model would be a really cool upgrade.

Both accept the Lakemaster chip. This chip is a must have for MN fisherman.

Good luck. WG

dockehr-

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you guys had fun out there and were able to put that new little GPS to some good use. I've had mine for about a week now and it is a sweet little unit. I honestly can't stop playing around with it. I just have to make it out onto some of the Lakemaster charted lakes with 1' contours and really have some fun.
