cool.gif Fed-X just dropped off the new Nils-Master 8" auger. I cannot believe how light this thing is. It feels like a feather comparing it to other augers. It is really compact too. The workmanship looks excellent. The power head is so small that it is gonna be a breeze to use. Can't wait to get out on the ice this weekend to give it a try. Hell I may just run over to a small pond some where close just to check it out. LOL wink.gif O, BTW, be really carefull touching the blades !! They are like razor blades. O, did I mention be careful touching the blades!! LOL Should heal by this weekend... crazy.gif

LOL....I got bit by the blades 2 years ago in Maine. I dusted some snow off the blades and OOPS! Why is that snow red? blush.gifwink.gif I think they are sharper then razors. I took my new cutting head and shaved a patch of hair off my arm with it....just to see if was sharp enough. No problems there. BTW....I don't recommend that you do that. wink.gifgrin.gif

Make sure to run good oil in it. I use Amsoil Saber at 100:1. If you can't get Amsoil, use Opti2 and that will work just as well. Also, you may want to run your powerhead a little without the auger on it to break the motor in a little. You don't need to do this, but as the motor breaks in it will run stronger and you will cut faster. Besides, it will give you an excuse to play with a little more. grin.gif

Hey Bob:

I just barely touched the blades and they bit. blush.gif LOL

JP at Nils told me the same thing about the 100-1 amsoil. He said he really is not suppose to be telling folks that as the owners manual is calling for a 25-50 to 1 mixture. I have always run all my 2 stroke motors on 100-1 amsoil and have yet to burn up a motor. I think it's the best for a 2 stroker. grin.gif Think I will do some breaking in this evening. cool.gif

Oh....a couple more things.

When you cut holes let the motor warm up for a minute (should do this will all augers), hold on and give it full throttle until you break through. Don't feather the throttle, let up at the end, etc.......Just let er' rip! grin.gif Also, don't put down pressure on the auger. The auger will do all the work and all you have to do is hang on.

Bob: First time out fishing auger would only go 2 inches into ice. Had to run motor at home a few hours for break-in and man does that new power point head cut. Did 40 holes in 8 inches of ice in less than 5 minutes. It is lightning fast and light..
