Polar Sport Hitch question

Recommended Posts

This is a question for anyone that has a Polar Sport portable fish house.

I bought one a few years ago and have always wanted to buy the hitch. I currently pull mine by sled/wheeler by just attaching to a rope....however, I am getting sick of the shelter running up behind me and hitting the sled/wheeler when I slow or go down hill.

I visited the Polar Sport web site and the really didnt have much info on the hitch. Does anyone know how they attach to the fish house? What do they mean by "wrap around"? Any info would be great.

Thanks.

Cliffy.

They are pretty simple to install, I wouldn't let the terms confuse you. It just connects to the sled by a couple pins, and you can mount it to your ATV or snowmobile in a few different ways if you wish. You'll figure it out very quickly once you see it. It should come with all the pieces.

It's a great piece of equipment to have when pulling your sled with an ATV or snowmobile, and you'll find yourself saving on frustration with not having to mess with a rope...

Hey, thanks for the info guys!!!

I have a couple more questions.

I was wondering how it attaches to the fish house. You see, right now I have a rope that attaches to a small square bar that is held to the sled by a couple of bolts. The rope attaches to the bar by a couple of eye bolts. All this hardware came with the fish house. So, my question is this...does the hitch attach to the square tubing or do I have to remove the tubing and attach directly to the fish house. Also, if it does attach to the tubing, how easy is it to remove..do you need tools? I would like to remove the hitch when loading it in the back of the truck...

Also, I have the three man fish house, I would assume I would need the "large" hitch....is this correct?

Thanks for the help.

Cliffy:

I just bought a 3-man with a hitch attatchment and its very easy.

The tubed frame bolted under the front of the sled has (2) pinned hinges that the tow bar inserts in to and you insert the pins. The hitch end has a spring loaded swivel neck that also pins in to the tow vehicle.

The "rear" of the sled has a large eyeboldt mounted in the center of the sled which I have no idea what its function is ?

Deephole,

I added that eyebolt on the rear as an extra place to attach another sled for towing or as an attachment point to store the works at the top of my garage. It's not standard.

The tow bar attachment is metal tubing that wraps around the front with a place for the tow bar to slip in between a metal attachment point.
