krawdad
I bought a cabela's portable fish house, the one where you have to make your own floor. I was wondering if anyone ever tried to fabricate one out of heavy duty plastic(or of that matter) and if so, where about you came across the material. I've looked into some plastic 4x8 sheets but the cost was a bit unreasonable...say >$50. Any one have some suggestions? Was leaning away from wood. tonyjor
I work at a grocery warehouse and every now and then we get in plastic dividers on a pallet that are about 1/2" thick and about 4'x4'. They have grooves in them and they're hollow, but sturdy. I'm sure something like that would work for you though they may be a little slick. Otherwise go with 3/8" plywood instead of the recommended 1/2" or 3/4". It wont last as long but it'll be lighter.
Gus
I have had this idea to get a used or discarded pickup truck bed liner to use for the exact same purpose. Cut it up and use conduit to wrap and rivot or bolt to the floor for holding the tent (it should set in the ribs I think) I haven't pulled the trigger on this project since I got my new portable but it's always been in the back of my mind. Might be worth a shot. I've talked to a few guys who have gotten used liners for as little as $5-15 bucks each. Whatever you get to work out post some pictures and tell us what worked.
