I wouldn't want to be using it when the CO comes by. I talked to the folks selling these at the ice fishing show and he showed me a copy of a letter he had from the DNR saying that they are illegal to use in MN. Didn't seem to stop him from selling them. They are legal to sell in MN but not to use. The information they were handing out also talked about using crappies to catch Northern Pike. Maybe they should have checked into the MN fishing laws before publishing that! Glad I didn't give them my $50!! You might want to try and take them back to where you bought them and let them know what they are doing.

Now that sucks, That is not the way I would do business, has anybody got caught using one yet? that will make me think twice about shopping in a place that does things like that. It sure says a lot a bout your Mom and Pop bait shops, fell like I can get the straigth scoop there!

There are a lot of people who hop the border to fish in bordering states (and countries), but I'm not sure what their regs are on this particular device. Sorry to hear about not being able to use it locally. Good Luck! McGurk

I emailed the DNR asking them about it and whether it might possibly be exempt as the statute suggests. Their response was that it was not exempt and that it is currently considered illegal.
