Frabill ProTherm Tipup Marker

I just thought I'd pass along a little idea I came up with last year for those of you that use the Frabill Pro Thermal insulated tipups. I had a hard time seeing my tipups when there was a lot of snow on the ice, so I cut a 5/16" dowel rod into sections and painted it black. There is a hole molded into the tipup that is just slightly larger than this. I don't know what the hole is supposed to be there for, but it works great for this purpose. I then put a little piece of black electrical tape on top and a couple of wraps of reflective tape. I figure that if I have a hard time seeing my tipups, how will a snowmobiler going 50mph see them? Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Uncle I do the same thing. Well pretty close. My dowling has no black paint but after seeing yours I think Im going to just paint them orange and keep the reflective tape towards the top. I also use these dowls in the snow when using regular arctic tip ups. The snowmobilers always seem to want to get close to where Im fishing as well. confused.gif

I use the D.O.T reflector tape on all my tip ups. I put the striped stuff on the flag and a solid piece near the spring. Works great at night for detecting bites. This stuff really reflects. I use a mini maglight to shine the tip up. When the striped tape is above the red tape grin.gif

3pronghook, I use the same stuff! That tape is really reflective when you shine a light on it.

I put the tape on the Flag and cut it to a triangle so when the flag is up its pointing up. Then I put some small stripes all around the edges and on the surface to really reflect it.

That stuff is the best. wink.gif
