OUTDOORNUT
This really only involves two teams thus far.Roush - 5 Full-time teamsHendricks - 4 Full & 1 PartialNASCAR can't seem to change the rules fast enough to try and bring the Cat in the Hat down.2003 - Kenseth runs away with Championship - Go to playoff system2004 - Roush wins anyway with Busch2005 - Too many Roush cars winning races and in the Chase - change testing rules, limit teams sizes.I can't believe that someone that has worked so hard and come close so many times, finally got all of his teams working together and all NASCAR can do is try to punish their progress. Would anything been done by NASCAR if it were all 4 Hendrick cars in the Chase?? I dought it highly!!
TNFL
I think its not a matter of who is in the chase as much as it is who is NOT in the chase. And I think everyone knows who I'm talking about, no its not 24. Thats been one of the major whines of certain fans is that thier two team garage can't compete with the larger teams and its just not fair. The real losers here are the guys that would want a partial ride i.e. Texas Terry or in 2 years Mark Martin. They are going to force those guys out of the sport. PierBridge
It's not going to matter they will circumvent this easily. kinda like Bud Selig who owned the Milwaukee Brewers and was the baseball commissioner which is not allowed so he gave the team to his sister. Sifty
From what I heard the rule goes into effect in 2009. That should give the teams plenty of time to get things worked out.Sifty
TNFL
New for 2009 MMI (Mark Martin Inc,. powered by rousch) and JGI (Jeff Gordan Inc,. powered by Hendrick), heck Gordan is already listed as the owner for the #48 car.Just curious, how many cars were in the Childress stable when DEI was born? I bet those were two totally seperate teams and didn't share any testing information. Its a stupid rule that can easily be manipulated. Way to go Nascar. lawdog
They claimed when this was being discussed that the deals like a wife owningn a car and Jeff owning Jimmie's car and Mark owning Kenseth's wasn't going to get them out of the cap, it was going to be a real cap with no wiggle room. We'll have to see...
JohnMickish
I wonder how they will control the motor issue, since both Ford teams use the same engines, MB2 and what was MBV use Hendrick, Robbie Gordon will be using DEI now and so on.My biggest beef is that when Hendrick, Childress adn Roush came in they went up against the big names of the time and they made it, so why can't someone new? I don't care how they change the rules, there will never be another one car team to win a race on an oval track.I do get a kick out of how they call the Woods car a one car team, they get their chassis and engines from Roush. Take those parts away and the team goes away.
OUTDOORNUT
The Wood Brothers haven't received anything but engines from Yates-Roush for this entire season. Fatback has been doing everything in-house. Now with ST Motorsports joing with the Wood Brothers, everything, but the engines will stay in-house.
