WMA's near twin cities

Recommended Posts

Well we didn't get any deer all weekend for our area in zone 1 for our group of 6, one guy saw a nub buck, but didn't shoot it. I was going to try a WMA near Carlos Avery one day this week. I have a multi-zone buck tag, and was going to buy a bonus tag so I could shoot a doe. Just wondering how you can tell if an area is closed to shotgun slugs? I called the DNR and they said the only one she knew that didn't allow single projectile firearms was the bayport WMA, but I have found a few others on the DNR HSOforum as well. Does anyone know of an easier way to tell? Also this might sound like a dumb question to some, but is Carlos Avery somewhat quiet during the week, or do people hit it pretty hard non-stop since it is a LARGE WMA that is so close to the cities?
