Heard of a tristar?

frabillfisher-

I just bought one a few weeks ago because the barrel on my Winchester SX2 bulged out on me. I've shot it a few times at ducks and geese now. Shoots well. I'm not a big fan of the loading procedure and the owner's manual is a bit lacking of info, but overall it's been a good gun for me so far. Nice light weight to it and very affordable. The gun shoots the 3 1/2" shells and although it's lighter than my SX2, I don't notice any more kick to it than the SX2.

So far everything has been going good. Using it for deer hunting this weekend, and am interested on how it will shoot slugs. Hoping to take it out to get an idea of how it shoots the slugs before we go deer hunting and figure out how/where I need to aim with it.

My report on the gun....good so far. No problems.

Yep, I have the Diana series. The gun shop had it for sale at $300. He gave me $100 for a parts trade-in on my SX2, so I bought the gun for $200 when it was all said and done.

I can't get myself to buy another Winchester gun because of what happened and their lack to back their product. My plan is to get a Browning or Benelli next year and have the Tristar as my backup gun.

Yep, it was new. Was pretty surprised at the price. Thought it must be used for the price advertised, but the gun shop told me it was new.

I used to own a Browning A-500 before I went to the SX2. Not sure why I switched, probably was because of cost. I'm going back to Browning or Benelli. I haven't really looked at either of them yet because I know if I do, I'll be REAL tempted to get one and I just don't have the cash for that right now. My cousin just got himself a Benelli. Spent like $1200 for it. I'm going to see him this weekend and am interested to take a look at it. Browining may be a little less expense though and if it is, I may just go with that. I think my Tristar will be a good backup gun though. Haven't had any problems and it seems to work just fine.

Good luck with yours!

I agree with Nova. I have a Benelli M1 Super 90 that was acting up a little in North Dakota and I switched to my Nova that I won at the Big Ducks Chapter's Banquet of the MWA last March. I didn't miss a beat. I am going to sell my old 870 and buy another Nova.

Took my Tristar deer hunting this weekend. Got my 2 deer. Used Brenneke Rottweils and the gun shot them exactly where I was aiming. Couldn't have asked for a better gun for slug hunting deer. I may buy a Browning or Benelli for waterfowl hunting, but I'll always use my Tristar for deer hunting. It performed flawlessly!!!

Congrats on the deer! I never got a chance to sight my gun in, so I was shooting "in the dark" on my first shots. Don't know why my Tristar would have shot differently than yours. What brand of slugs did you shoot?

Unfortunately, I never had a chance at a buck, so I ended up taking 2 does. One was 3 1/2 years and the other was 2 1/2 years. Wish I could have hunted today and tomorrow as I planned to hunt a spot where we had seen a couple bucks, but the kids got sick and I had to come home yesterday, so I ended up taking whatever opportunities I had and got the 2 does.

Well hopin you could tell me how I got all the way down to nothing left in it except the bolt and the little arm that comes out of it that you put your finger on to pull it back, all i need to do is find out how to get that last piece out to get the bolt out?
