Who is going to Iowa this weekend?

Just wondering who is going to make the trip to Iowa for the pheasant opener this weekend? I have a group of 7 going down... And I can't wait!!!

Fish Off, I assume when you say your dog is a little sore you mean because you have been hunting him hard, correct?

If so I might have a tip for you.

Several years ago I read an article where a well known dog trainer stated he gave his dogs 500mg each of Vitamin C & E prior to and during hunting season. I wish I could rmember his name but the article was in Outdoor Life.

It seems he starts about 2 weeks prior to opening and continues each day during the season. He says it keep the muscles and joints free and loose.

I tried it on my 8 year old black lab Nellie and it sure seemed to work. We went to ND and she could retreive ducsk all day and get up the next morning and be raring to go like a young pup.

Thanks for the insight. My dogs seems to be in shape, but after three days Chicken Hunting my Lab was a little sore. She seems to be back to normal today, but this is something I'm going to try.

FYI...when we hunted Iowa we could always find huge numbers of birds around Storm Lake.

Storm Lake?!?! i am from cherokee and it seems like it was always slow on pheasants? Seems like i have killed more in southern minnesota near worthington. Must be me, let me know how you do. Maybe i will make the trip back home, but the 100 dollars plus gas is kinda $$$ for chickens.

I am a Transplnat from Iowa and The Area south of worthington and over by Spirit lake is always good lots of public land and sloughs. I have alwasys had good luck. i wont be down this weekend though i have to work next weekend for sure.

That was the area we were in... Spirit Lake. We shot our limit but it was a lot of walking.
