Smallmouth
I need to buy a generator for my fishhouse on Mille Lacs, house is 10x20. I was told a 2000 watt Honda generator would suit my needs and is pretty quiet. Any suggestions would be great, thanks in advance !!
MNmikew
Can't go wrong with the Honda EU2000i. Very quiet.
PierBridge
Bingo... Honda EU2000i - Super quiet generator with 2000 Watts at Maximum output. 46.3 lbs. with Eco-Throttle & Optional Parallel Operation Connection Cable and 12V battery charging capabilities. Can operate up to 15 hours on 1 gallon of gasoline! You'll be very happy with a Honda EU 2000...
Jeremy airjer W
These guys nailed it. Remeber this is a smaller generator so if your planing on running alot of accessories/luxuries you may want to consider going to a 3000. Either way you won't be dissapointed with a honda. It will probaly outlast your ice house. Do a search for appliance wattage rating. Add up all the wattages for all the electrical devices you plan on using. Then you know for sure what you need. Also I think the eu2000 is rated for 2000 watts peak. the sustained wattage is lower. The other thing to remeber is not all generators put out the same a/c voltage. Hondas have the cleaniest/most accurate output which is ideal for more sophisticated electronics (pc, tv, dvd players, etc.) I've been told that there output is better than the current coming into your home. cold one sd
Thhere are all kinds for sale on hsolist. I bought a 1,000 watt for 122.50 less shipping and it works very well. I bought a 2cycle so I don't have to worry about oil changes on the ice. there are hundreds of them on hsolist.

little kid
cold one sd - - out of curiosity, which unit did you buy?
cold one sd
The brand name on mine is Launtop. They are made in China of course, but it seems to be a good unit. Sportsmans Guide sells the same thing for about $219.00 plus shipping. I think the same generator gets imported under a bunch of different names. I had it down to the local Honda repair shop and the mechanics seemed to think it is a real nice unit. I wanted a 2 cycle engine so I wouldn't need to change oil. I use Amzoil Saber Professional 100/1 mix in it so it doesn't smoke. I think this generator is also sold under the Buffalo Tools name.
Captain Ken
unless you plan to go oiut once or twice, wherein the cost of a honda would not be justified, I would buy a Honda EU series. Calculate your power needs based on what you will be running. Amps X voltage = watts. After you use your genrator as a sole power source for a while, you get real good at finsing those little power plates on things. the EU 1000 gives you about 900 watts constant, the 2000 I believe is right around 1800 watts for constant. HAs a nifty hook up for 12 volt charging too. QUIET. Keep oil changed good and check the level once a day (they don't have a hige oil sump, but it will shut off if the oil gets low). Keep fuel fresh and dry adn you should be AOK.
cold one sd
Every thing in my ice house works on 12 volt dc. I have 9 twelve volt batteries in it. I mostly use my generator to make drip coffee in the morning and a very occasional battery charge. I guess if I wanted everything in my icehouse that I have in my home, I also have a 6,000 watt Generac. Whoops, the heater uses propane and isn't forced air. Two processor cooling fans on the ceiling take care of that. But I expect to rough it a little.
