What brings about this sudden declaration??

I tend to agree. I love Vado's and will drive quite aways out of my way to purchase bait there. Late in the ice fishing season when the catfish are biting good on golden shiners, that is the only place I can buy them at.

I'll have to say that Spee Dee Delievery of your (Vados) Maggies to my door the next day is some great service. When a group of us are headed out for a long weekend of panfishing or perchin, we'll buy a 1000 count of maggies.

Keep up the good work!!

When I was up in Duluth, I'd have to say Fisherman's Corner was the best place to get bait. There was another place called Charlstrom's, but they didn't (in my opinion) do as good of job as Fisherman's Corner. F.C always had a good selection of lures and a variety of baits at good price. Plus the guys behind the corner were a bite more friendly and knew what was/wasn't going on the area lakes.

If you ever get to Devil's Lake,N.D. check out a shop known as Ed's Bait. They have all the bait and tackle you need. They also sell pop and snacks of all sort. They have gas pumps and fill propane tanks and rent out ice fishing equipment. In back, they have a fish cleaning room for customers. Connected to it and accessable by interior door is an on/off liquor store and bar that serves a limited menu of food also. If they had bunks, a guy could live there rather well.

Vados is a great bait shop. I always stop there when I'm looking for maggies and euro larva. Great people and great service. Bait is always fresh and they usually have everything you're looking for. Some of the better bait options in the Metro area as well...

Another place I really enjoy stopping at is Lehmann's in Anoka. They specialize in small gas engines and lawn equipment, but they also have live-bait. Best part about Lehmann's is that they have a 24-hour baitshed where you can self-serve and put your money in a box at any hour of the day. Very trusting people who are truly there to help the angler and provide a place for someone to grab some minnows at 3am on their way to the hot walleye bite smile.gif Many a times have I gone there at midnight or later to grab a scoop of minnows for the next morning...

icehousebob-

Been to Ed's Bait Shop a number of times. The first time I was there, I was surprised or shocked by how small it was. They have a very nice HSOforum and are they seam to be the "go-to" source for Devil's Lake information.

I will say this, I have never seen an assortment of Hali jigs in my life like they have at Ed's. I bet the Hali's take up 4' of wall space 7' high. Its a perch fisherman's dream store!
