If you watched the NLCS GAME 5, you witnessed the biggest home run in playoff history-- other than MAZEROSKI's blast of the YANKS. Think about this--- down to their last out, down to their last STRIKE with ECKSTIEN. One strike from going home. ONE FREAKIN' STRIKE!!!! Carter's blast of wildthing in 92 or 93 was to win it all, but TOronto played that game at home and Carter wasn't down to the team's last strike. GIBSON"S dinger of ECK was in game one of the W.S,, not a elmination game. Bucky Dent, not the same. Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, not the same. MAZEROSKI's and PUJOLS blast are the 2 biggest HR's hit in b-ball history. PERIOD. I was cheering for the stros, but my goodness, if the stros' lose 2 ggames in St Louis,, they become the Cubs of the south. What a dinger. How far did that ball go??? Must have been around 500ft, if not more.

Tim, maybe I wrote off the Cards too soon. There was no doubt where that ball was going to end up! What was Lidge thinking? He basically pitched around Edmonds to get to Pujols. Hold onto your seat from here on as the Astros and Cardinals have been in this situation before and we all know how that turned out.

When I got that late night call from my daughter whom is away at college she was in tears of joy... Game 6 this year is alot tougher than Pet Munro in game 6 last year. The Card are going to have to come up with every trick they have in the bag against Oswalt. He's there number 1 and has been for a while now., It is imperative we come out with an early lead in game 6 and keep the pressure on, I don't think my heart can take another comeback like last night. When Berkman flipped that ball in to the seats in left field my heart dang near bottomed out. Thank God Albert saved our season to play another game...

frown.giffrown.giffrown.gif I'm sorry CNY, it must be disapointing to realize baseball season is over for the redbirds, you've gotta admit the better team won and the best two teams are in the WS. I remember when the Twins lost to the Yankees and to the Angels in recent years to go to the world series or advance to the ALCS and were eliminated... it stunk. Anyways, you've been a good contributor to this baseball thread and I for one hope to continue seeing your posts. wink.gif

Oswalt was unhittable! He is too much for any team I don't care whom they throw against him, he's a flame throwing machine... Feeling dissappointed and dejected after the game I tried to go to bed but the frustration, high blood pressure and nausea was compounded when thinking about the lack of hitting the entire series by Edmunds and Walker and the freaking meatballs Mulder was throwing was to much for me to take... So I made the call in to work to take a sick day and through my waders in the back of the van and headed to Oneida Lake for some late night walleye wading action. Fished for an hour and caught my limit two 19"rs and a 17", and released a short one...

I will continue to check in with you guys everyday and enjoyed monitoring this forum it's been fun getting to know each and everyone through this little chat forum and it's been a pleasure. I want to thank you guys for making my job easy you guys are a fun bunch.. Anyways there's always next year right Geno!

I want the White Sox to win because I can't stand the killer Bzzzzz and the Crawford boxes in left that are so short I can knock em out with my slowpitch Demarini F2 bat... I am happy for Houston as it is there first trip to the dance but I think that Pettite and Clemens are beatable but not Oswalt so I'm picking the Palo's in 6... Now that the post season is over I will be making many night trips to the lake catching and releasing walleye's in anticipation of breaking my 30" mark. I will still be looking in on you guys....

CNY Tim,

My condolences to you and your Red Birds. I can only hope that we only see Mr. Oswalt once in our series. I would hate to face him in game 7 which is likely should this dance go long. I look for my Palo's to take care of business in 5 and I agree. Pettite and Clemens are hitable, Backe even more, but you might as well phone it in against Oswalt. But, you gotta believe that same thought is creeping into Houston's heads looking at the Sox last 4 complete playoff games. I think the attitude of Houston will be happy to just have made it there, whereas I think the Sox feel they are a team of destiny and have huge chips on their shoulders with the National media picking Houston to win the series, what an insult to the Sox, especially with home field advantage. Anyway, keep watching and commenting and keep us posted on your walleye totals each night. I guess I will have to be satisfied with an "I-40" series, that just doesn't have the sweet sound of the double nickle.

Oh well, I guess I should wrap it up with a mighty hi ho silver and....YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! Windy

Windy I got to watch Saturday nights White Sox win and missed Sunday's game because our Brown's Backers were on that 9 hour bus trip back from a dissappointing Browns loss in Cleveland to the kitties. I was at Cooperstown sports bar watching the White Sox beat the the Astro's Saturday night. Cooperstown is that sport's bar across the street from the Jake (Jacob's Field). Crowd was split between Astro's and Sox fan's but was full of Detroit Lions fans, they had quite a few busses in for the Browns game. They went home happy with a win but I don't think either team was satisfied with there overall performance. Ther'es always next year I guess. I missed a heck of a win by your Paloes last night. Podsednick who would have thought it against Lidge eh? I believe Pujols and Scotty were both 0-4 in the game before they both crushed one from Lidge. Now you face Oswalt tomorrow night. Be patient and make him work so you can get into that inneffective Houston bull pen. Congrats on going up 2-0!

Thanks CNY Tim,

As you know, I predicted that my beloved Pale Hose would wrap this thing up in 5 games, only losing a close game to Oswalt. I might have to ammend my prediction slightly. I think that the way things are going, with the stars aligning the way they have, that we may be in for some baseball magic on Tuesday. Here is my vision, I see Oswalt pitching his usual good game, however, remember that he is a low fastball pitcher with a great curve. If Paulie, JD and the rest of the guys can lay off the curve they may get a fastball to drive over that short porch in left like Phat Albert did! I also see, the way things have been going, a great game out of Mr. Garland. Could you imagine the buzz created if he goes out and throws a no-no??? Just a thought. But you can say you heard it here first. If Oswalt does prevail, then who do the Astros throw in game 4 Backe? He don't scare me. Clemens looks like he is toast. Do you rush Pettite back on 3 days rest and try to win with Oswalt on 3 days rest? There is still plenty of drama left in this series but I think it will reside on the southside....of Chicago, in the baddest part of town, as Mr. Croce sang.

Here's to more great games, starting in about 24 hours.

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD....YES! Windy
