VMS
Pretty sick of seeing only 20 or so laps then another car in the wall. Its' obvious that the Levigating the track has made the track horrible. I am guessing that after the race, the track will be torn up and re-paved. Something has to happen. Your thoughts?Steve
LMITOUT
Yes, they mentioned that the track will be repaved after this race. I don't know if you saw the Busch race, but it was a telling sign of what was to be expected tonight.
JohnMickish
I like what smoke had to say after the race. It's not the tires, it's not the track. They just don't match up. Goodyear didn't do a tire test on this track surface. Now everybody is all in an uproar over this and basically forced them to repave the surface for next year. Maybe you guys haven't noticed but it usually takes several years after a repave to get two groves in. Chicago and Kansas where horrible for the first few years, now they are not as bad. Same with Atlanta. Homestead was good out of the box but they did progressive banking there. The announcers mentioned something about that last night, that would be good. On a different note, did you guys see all the empty seats last night?
lawdog
I bet if they found the right tire it would be fine. They'll try that before repaving I bet. Humpy spent several million dollars on this levigating stuff... He's not going to want to spend 10 times that to repave rightaway...
RobertELee
I heard them say on Nascar radio on XM that Humpy is going to try and get it repaved and rebanked for next years May race.
lawdog
They said on Speed last night that its being repaved. Of course, that will lead to one groove racing for a few years.
LMITOUT
It was mentioned on the race telecast that they were thinking of incorporating a variable bank much like Homestead which would throw out the one-groove issue on a newly paved track. I hated Homestead until they changed the banking and now it offers great racing. Much better than the numerous 1.5mi cookie cutter flat tracks that are super boring and plague the 36 week schedule. JohnMickish
CONCRETE! Of course that would cost about 47 bazzilion dollars and nobody would be able to affort a ticket then.
VMS
I like the idea of changing the banking to eliminate the one groove deal. Although, even if they did not change the banking, it would take a couple years to get the 2nd groove going, it would get us back to good racing again. The track was bumpy, but man...did it have good racing before the levigating. Too bad you cannot go back now..Steve

Just get MNDOT to take care of it for a year that should make it nice and bumpy
