Lakemaster transferring waypoints question

Ya Hey Der

Question

I'll try to keep this short. I have lakemaster installed on my laptop and my desktop. I am able to import and transfer waypoints from my laptop to my etrex vista but I am unable to transfer from my desktop. On my desktop, I have made sure the data cable is connected to one of the Com ports ( I think it is COM 1) then I hook the other end to my gps and I go into Lakemaster and click GPS. At this point, I make sure I configure the desktop to etrex vista and com 1 ( I have checked all the other com ports as well) and the baud rate. I try to import but I get the following message:

'Error opening com port com1' then below it has a yellow '!'sign and it reads: 'the device is already open'. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't have a problem with my laptop but it is my desktop that I can't transfer points. Please help!

Thanks!

I had a similar problem with mine and here is what helped me. I had to go into the setting for the program and kept selecting different com ports till I got the one it wanted. Hope this helps and are you ready for some ice fishing??

I e-mailed them this morning and they got back to me with a response by the afternoon. They were extremely helpful and correct with their trouble shooting. I had an Old Palmpilot that I forgot about that I had set up on the com 1 port. I just switched it to com2 and kept my data cable on com 1 and it now works. Not only do they offer an excellent product but they also provide excellent customer service.

James,

You should e-mail lakemaster, they are great to work with.

mnfishinguy,

You better believe I am ready for the ice. 'goin fishin' and I are getting some trips together. we should all get together on the ice again. I'll bring the grill and maybe goin fishin will bring the venison brats. It's gonna be a great winter!
