iffwalleyes
I have posted this many times before. But I will say it again. On LOW Arensen's and Sportsmans and many other resorts run Jiffys as there auger of choice. Those guy cut more holes in a month than most of the rest of us in a season. Jiffys are a tough product for sure. Not the lightest but probably the strongest.
dan holt
I can not complain about the cutting or performance of my strikemaster. What I could complain about are the handles. Both my 8" & 10" are three years old and less, and I have had the handles replaced at least 1-2 times a year. Yes they are the black ones. Granted I use my augers ALOT! But after so many 65-70 dollar repair bills when they are out of warranty. It really makes you want to re-evaluate things. Now if they were to make the same auger with a alumimum of steel handle I would be sold for life.Strikemaster has warrantied 1 of my handles. But if you can get passed that my augers start on 1st or 2nd pull everytime.I use Lazer series. Fish Hard Play Harder (With your Kids)

augernaut
what are you guys doing to these augers that you are breaking the handles? I've honestly never heard of one breaking before!
Bob_D
I know several guys that have had Strikemaster handles break. IMO...I think unprotected plastic (stuff that is not protected from impact) and cold are a bad combo. I owned a Jiffy for many years. It ran fine, was designed to last a long time and served me well. I switched to a Nils Master 3 years ago (Nils Master power augers were new to me at the time) only after the shop owner told me he would give me my money back if I did not like it. He never got the unit back, and I have not run a chipper auger once since then.IMO....If you want a chipper auger, I say go with Jiffy. If you want a lightweight shaving auger, go with Nils Master. Blaine
Yep, I'm with Bob on this one. I also had a Jiffy model 30 for years, 18 to be exact and it always cut like a bear for me. Once I saw how much faster a Nils was, I had to have one. I've never looked back since...
sakazulu
I have and use a 1960's Jiffy I bought from my Wiscony' father-in-law who retired to Florida 4 years ago! It always starts and cuts slower than anybody else and is REAL loud! But it still starts and cuts.
