choke info

Sometimes hard starting easy flooding sleds are signs of other problems and not the choke. Sometimes, not always. Making sure you have a good hot spark might solve this problem.

Having said that, instead of going full choke while roping it over, try half choke and see if that solves your problems.

I'm thinking you have a inlet valve thats letting gas by when not in use. To trouble shoot this problem you should be closing the fuel shut off when not in use.

Do that before you kill the engine to run some of the gas out of the carb.

Next time you cold start try a few pulls without any choke.

Then if you have to choke it.

I think Surface Tension hit the nail on the head.

If your sled is flooding out that bad, which it sounds like it is, the gas is just moving right on through the carbureters.

Its a pretty simple fix, just order up a new fuel inlet valve (needle & seat) for each carb. You'll have to take the carbs off of the sled & drain the gas out. Flip them over and remove the 4 screws that hold the float bowl on. With the float bowl off, you'll see what looks like a small flapper or arm. The flapper actuates the 'needle' and shuts off the flow of gas into the float bowl. Either one of the pieces is worn out or the flapper/arm is bent and out of adjustment.
