otto_man
gotta love watching that guy play, even you viking fans must be impressed...
fishyguy
I think most Vikings fans appreciate his talent (even though some may not admit it) but the only thing that ever bugs me about the guy is the way people (John Madden)falls all over themselves to compliment the guy. He was impressive in the later part of the game last night but I was amazed that Mr. 4th Quarter Warrior has never made a comeback after being down by 15 points or more. He did make a very boring game come to life though.
Down to Earth
I'm as big of Packer fan as the next guy, but after lack of sleep over the weekend I hit the sack at halftime last night. I could only imagine Madden being in his Favre prime comments last night during the second half. Fishyguy, I saw that stat as well and thought it quite interesting. Hockey Guy
My friends at work all think I’m crazy because I’ve been telling them for the last 4 years that I would rather have Farve running my offense in critical situations then Culfumbler. It seems that the NFL keep every stat possible, but I would like to see a critical situation stat. They should keep track of 3rd and 4th down conversions when the game is on the line. I’m telling you… Culfumbler wouldn’t even be in the top ten!! And I’m not just talking about this year. Every time I bring this up, someone talks about his completion percentage and pro bowl appearances. I DON’T CARE. Give me Farve any day. He knows how to win. Even though I’m a huge Viking fan I still feel sorry for Farve being the only good player on that pathetic Green Bay team this year.
muskybuck
Last night we saw one of the greatest Quarterbacks that has ever played the game playing at the top of his game. The passes that were not completed were ones that went right through both hands of the reciever. You will never see a quarterback play better than "The Man" did last night. He is a man that can carry a team. To compare Culfumbler (somebody finally come with a name to fit) to Brett Favre is ridiculous.
fishyguy
Musky, I think the biggest difference between the two is that although Farve and Culpepper can both blow a game through turnovers, Farve will overcome that the next series, half or week where Fumblepepper will lose his head and compound his problems. Physical talent is very comparable, maybe even in Daunte's favor but mental and emotional maturity is not even close. I still think your nuts if you want to make him a TE. Down to Earth
Fishyguy,Do you think that could come from the coaching staff? I mean look who Favre has worked throughout his QB career. I know Culpepper had Linehan for a while, but now you have Tice, Loney, and no QB coach. One thing that I've noticed between the Packer and Vikings this year, besides they both stink, is that when the Vikes have gotten behind against the Bengals and Falcons they seemed to have tanked it in the second half. At least you see the Packers out there making a come back and staying in the game, with some what of an opportunity to win the game come 4th quarter. That has to come from the team leadership and right now I'd say that is what is failing the Vikes. Culpepper has done the complete opposite I envisioned him doing this season. fishyguy
I think you hit the nail right on the head. It starts at the top with Tice coming across as uncertain of a plan and indecisive. Then that trickles down through the staff to team leaders like Daunte to the rest of the team. It will be interesting to see if they can square their heads away. If they can come out and win a tough game in Chicago after the bye they might just be o.k. If not, season over, they will be in meltdown mode the rest of the year. Hockey Guy
This weeks lines are in. The Vikings have the bye this week and the bye is favored by 17 points. Since they are already pretty much eliminated from the playoffs, maybe they should play for a draft pick.
Bobby Bass
As much as I hate to say it, the Vikes are not out of the playoffs. No one has won the division yet. But it would be a sorry sight to see them go with the team they have right now. That goes for the Packers as well. Hell goes for the entire division. TNFL
I like when he incompletes on a 3rd down play he always complains that his reciever was held. I can picture him now doing the tugging on his jersey thing. He can be a crybaby.A guy I work with was complaining that the packers never get any calls. Apperently he thought deshaun Foster should have been called for holding on that play when he had 29 yards of YAC, because he was holding the would-be tacklers jersey. HOLDING on the ball carrier... hmmmm never heard that one. toooo much paint thinner i guess. In tuesdays Trib there was a picture of Farve with his hand on a would-be tacklers face mask. I asked if Farve should have been called for facemasking. But in his mind that was not a penalty. Disclaimer...."i didn't really think it should have been a penalty"
Down to Earth
Quote:I like when he incompletes on a 3rd down play he always complains that his reciever was held. To me this is an all to common occurance through out the NFL. Two things are certain on most 3rd down incompletions.1. The QB is running around looking for the hold.2. The WR is already doing the flag motion with his arm as soon as the ball gets past him. Half the time he's calling for it before he gets done rolling on the ground to get up.
