Abu Garcia Line Counter Acces. Kit

leechlake

Question

I saw this last night on a HSOforum. You screw it into your existing Abu garcia c3 or c4 and it's a digital line counter. It attaches to the sideplate. I had never seen these before and was thinking about getting a couple. Does anyone here no anything about these or used them?

I have one that I put on a 5600 C4 and I love it. I can cast lures saving time and increasing lure in strike zone time. The traditional LC reels make you let out line slowly. The other pros are line diameter changes, back light, bait out alarm, and a few more I haven't figured out yet. But another tip is to buy a spare battery right away because the one that comes with the line counter will only last a couple times out on the water. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Plain and simple...this thing helps put fish in the boat. What other insight do you need? If you buy it at a store that you frequent and don't like it, take it back and get your money back. If you want a testimonial, here goes.
This last year I was fishing with my brother in law and we were both using line counters. I had the Abu Garcia and he had the Sealine LC. We were both using the same shallow shad rap with 140' of line out. When the bite was "On" it would take him about 2 minutes to get his lure back in the fish zone. When I caught a fish it took me about 10 seconds to get my rap back 140'. Needless to say I boated 7 more walleyes that night. Anytime you can catch more fish than the other guy in the boat, you get bragging rights. smile.gif I'm sure you will love this LC and save some $$$ since you already have the reel.

I have no complaints about counters on the rod. They automaticly adjust for line diameter and spool fill for much less. If you were in the market for a new reel however, the little extra would make sense to buy the whole unit because you can take it off. For this reason Im thinkin about one. Anyone have any idea what the batteries cost?

Line counters are definitely nice to have. I looked at the Abu add-on. 40 bucks seems high for a line counter but this counter has some nice features.
I use the rod mounted counters for trolling Superior and for that application they work great especially when you have 12 rods and reels where an upgrade to reels with counters woulds cost a fortune.
