pitted concrete

Question

I have noticed that where I park my car in the garage that the slab is pitted in a few spots. I have seen patch kits in Menards and places like that. I have heard of a patch kit and a bonding agent used together. Has anyone tried to repair spots like this. Thanks for the help!

Spalling is a common problem in concrete. But there are some commercial products that do work. Don't go to the discount retail outlet, you have to get the good commercial industrial stuff.

Several years ago I hired a contractor to repair spalling in a floor in a warehouse. If you are using a self levelling product, there are several two part mixtures. These can be expensive, $60 per gallon, but they do work. Self levelling means it is liquid when it goes in and is not very trawellable. I wish I could remember the trade name.

Thoro Patch is a thin set trawellable cement that is not self levelling and is worked into the depression.

In all cases surface prep according to manufactures recommendations is critical. Etching and degreasing may be necessary. Not an easy job, but beats breaking up the slab and repouring the floor.

i wouldn't worry about it, you are only going to waist your time and money on these temp fix's. one of the main reasons this happens is when the driveway was poured it was poured to wet or the contractor sprayed water on top to get the cream up. if i were you i would just let it go until you are ready to replace the driveway.

There is a product out there called vinyl patch, I would try this. I have worked with concrete for twenty years and this is a good product. You can usually buy this at any lumber yard. Inexpensive and does the job.
