Kodiak
get a couple-three 6' poles and get some fast grass and make a pseudo fast grass fence in front or your canoe, that might work.
Duffman
We used to take them black rubber bungee cords, take off the s-hooks and then stretch and screw them in the whole way around the edge of the canoe every 10" or so. Then we would zip-tie a bunch of bundles of cover (grass, reeds, etc....). Then when we'd get to our spot we'd just insert the bundles in the bungee cords. Worked great if you don't mind putting some holes in the vessel.
wingnutken
Get 3-4 fishing rod holder mounts from cabella's or the scotty brand at any sporting goods store. You can get them that mount on a flat surface or your side rails. I mounted them on top of the seat on my 14' boat. Get 4' sections of 7/8 alu. mill tubing from any hardware store. Prime them with an alum. primer and then camo paint, then cut to your prefered height. Get a 12' piece of die cut camo in your favorite pattern (H.S. in wetlands)cut this now just a little more than the length of your poles or cut after you have attaced the fabric to the poles. Thread the tubing through the holes in the fabric and secure at the top, middle and bottom with plastic wire ties. Insert the tubing into the mounts(drill out the little stop notch inside first so the tubing inserts fully).Weave a piece of small bunge cord through the top of fabric to prevent saging. You can buy this by the foot and die it.Get a little extra so you can run each end down to the side rail, attach with a small S hook. This is very light weight, compact when rolled up and fast to set up. I thought of this last year and I liked it so much I did it for the other side of the boat in a different pattern for this season. TV BOY
Where can you buy the elastic stretch cord at? It sounds like a good Idea.
